Apparently a lot of fans decided Ukraine's name would be "Katyusha" due to the fact that she always wore a headband...

:D when my sis & mum got back from Austria they bought for me (among other awesome things) a deck of Russian playing cards. Familiar as the Queen's Slipper kings and queens are to you and me, we Russian kids grew up playing with another set of artworks in our carddecks.
They wear lovely Russian Royal fashions so I thought I'd have a try drawing them. I LOVE those old costumes :3

Voila, Ivan as the Jack of Diamonds and Ukraine as the Queen of Clubs, my favorites. :) It was gonna be Belarus, but, y'know, she's freaky. :D

They wear these cloths, so that the image can be mirrored diagonally as playing cards do. So... yeah. Random cloths D:

wah Ukraine looks so pretty! Very nice and I wish I had my old playing cards ... I'm not russian but Ukrainian but in my country we still had those fancy playing cards ... I miss them american cards are so plain compared to them. Wonderful image but why is Ivan a brunette?

Well, his hair is kind of sandy-coloured? :XD: I might be off in this picture a little bit. Yeah, we have the Queen's Slipper playing cards around here as well. Ubiquitous and pretty plain... those designs never change. It's funny though, my Russian cards were made in Austria... :giggle:
