I know, I know, she actually isn't much of a "sexually confident" sort of chic IRL, but I was browsing teh stock and this picture totally made me think of her.

She just... o__o I dunno. I love her. This is my little ode, teeheehee. I do really feel bad contributing to this porn-star cult of hers, because it seems to be something that made her quite uncomfortable in her short-lived solo career... which was more about making good music than anything, and that would make her one of about two or three worthwile Japanese pop-musicians in the past... decade.

Anyway. Yay. I'll put the rough copy in the scraps. The stockings took the longest (yes they're stockings) and I'm rather fond of them, and the fact that a proper reference means this doesn't look like "glossy hot-bod" magazine edit garbage.

I don't get this...your art is buttkickin, you seem to be a pleasant person and you comment alot, so why the heck aren't pieces like this getting 100+ faves? :0 Shiina Ringo is probably my favorite solo artist, not only is the music great(I like how alot of the songs are downbeat yet fast) and the lyrics(thanks to centigrade-j) are beautiful. la salle de bain blew me away. she's really awesome here, this is impressive. love the stockings and boots!

I haven't really kept up with her career for a long time though, is she not going solo now? :oops:

Haha... worrying about popularity just eats yer soul :D I got nearly 7000 pageviews and all, that's more than a lot of Deviants see in their lifetimes. I'd die if too many people were around on my page... you get wannabe's then... pukerescent...

OMG. Yes, I luv shiina so much... what's the coolest about La salle de bain (besides, well... it's fricking cool) is that yokushitsu, is exactly the same song BUT arranged completely differently. It's amazing just hearing them side by side...

Shiina's capable of so many different things.... her musical arrangements are so delicious... what she does to strings just makes me melt. KYooooo don't get me started on her :D

Um yeah after the 3rd album, which was pretty experimental by J-pop standards (....experimental music doesn't exist in J-pop) which got decent sales cuz all her fans bought everything with her name on it - and subsequently freaked totally out because of the music. She had a baby around then and then decided it was time to join a band (Tokyo Jihen, they're putting out some lovely stuff nowadays) which is something she's apparently always wanted to do.
That caused it, and I think the image she had... apparently IRL Shiina's a really nice quiet kinda gal and because her music wasn't "OMG hypercute look at the lovely stars I want to KISS!! *blush*", quite the opposite, everyone just assumed she was a suuper-sexually-charged powerwoman. Which wasn't true. Apparently.
*sigh* But she achieved (kind of) what she wanted to do all her life, which is experiment with music and take it to the next level. But there's never been anyone like Shiina and there never again will be. Just says something about the sick sad stupid quality of the industry there. There's been about 3 artists in the charts with merit... in the last decade.
At least in the US it's more like a year or two....

Em yeah. You should not get me started on her o__o;
